Manchester by Night: Spinningfields

I've spent a couple of night's exploring round Spinningfields and it keeps reminding me of something my sister told me once. Apparently, if you were to visit one of the business districts in London on the weekend, you'd find everything shut because no-one visited the area except during office hours. Spinningfields isn't quite that bad, but it's close. There doesn't seem to be any pubs or bars in the area, just chain-restaurants (you can see most of them listed in the photograph below), which are already to be found in other area's of the city. It isn't a through-way from one part of the city to another and there are no attractions to make people visit the area. It's a bit of a ghost-town really.

Does anyone know if there's a grand-scheme in place to change it all around?

Further Adventures Up on High

Following on from this previous post, this time I've been up multi-storey's in Spinningfields and Oxford Road. I remembered to bring my tripod this time, which I don't use a great deal and it was an interesting experience trying to get it position to capture the shots I wanted.

Not Part of NYE 3

Back in the mists of time (okay, January), I attended the third Not Part of NYE, organised by the Not Part Of folk. The night acted as a preview of the summer shows and as to be expected with a large number of acts over the course of a very long evening, the quality was a bit variable. The highlights for me (from what I remember), were Holli McNish, Trudy & Judy and Dr Butlers Hatstand Medicine Band.
