Hulme Tyre Tree

Found along the path that runs parallel to the A5103. Does anyone know why they've all been placed here? Did they all appear one day or has it built up over time? If anyone has any photographs or information on similar things, I'd be interested in finding out.

Manchester Caribbean Carnival 2010

 

I was lucky enough to accidentally catch Saturday's Manchester Caribbean Carnival as it marched through Hulme. I'd provide a link to their website but it doesn't appear to be working, so here's the BBC news item.
