Yanchep National Park - Cave Tour

We were lucky enough to arrive early and experience a "private" tour of the crystal caves. Formed from limestone, the caves derive their name from the wealth and range of stalagmites that can found inside and can be seen below. I strongly recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Yanchep National Park

Yanchep National Park is an absolutely stunning place to while away a day, with all sorts of wildlife to be found while wandering around the place - some of which is cheeky enough to steal chips from your plate! There's also an underground cave system to explore which I'll be featuring in detail tomorrow.

Prevelly Beach at Night

These photographs were taken later the same night in pitch blackness, using a 30 second exposure to capture the view. Yes, that is the moon in the top photograph.

Prevelly Beach at Sunset

I was lucky enough to spend an evening at beautiful beach of Prevelly, a short drive from Margaret River. The sea was a little rough for swimming but it's a lovely spot on the coast and highly recommended.

Penguin Island

Penguin Island isn't somewhere I'll be hurrying back to. It took two and a half hours to actually set foot on the island due to all manner of problems with the boats (normal journey time: 7 minutes), with the high winds making sure that the waves were washing up onto the jetties for embarking and disembarking. Jetties that were covered in seaweed making them difficult to traverse. The name is also a bit of a misnomer as the major wildlife of the island appeared to be seagulls, who aren't that keen on visitors judging by all the shrieking.

Busselton Jetty

Busselton Jetty is a 2km wooden pier stretching out into the sea, complete with an underwater observatory at the end and a train running along its length. It's also lovely to stroll along, with small sections of poetry and text embed along its length in a number of spots. For more information, have a gander here.
