Procession: The Book

Procession book launch

Procession is a new book published by Cornerhouse about last year's Manchester International Festival event organised by Jeremy Deller. The book contains a number of interviews with key participants along with photographs of groups preparing for the event and the event itself alongside material included in Procession: An Exhibition.

And why am I featuring it here? Well, three of the photographs contained there-in were taken by myself, which is nice. You can find them and a fair few others in this blog post from last year.

Manchester Internation Festival - Procession

Sunday, I managed to arrive on Deansgate just before Procession's scheduled kick off. The road was busy but not overly packed and there was no difficulty in finding a good viewing point.

I have to say that I think it went pretty well though there were few folk walking along looking as though they didn't know what they were doing there. I'm disappointed I didn’t get to hear the Adoration of the Chip choir in full song – they hadn’t started up when they went by, though I did hear a few cries “Amen!” from their motley congregations.

Oh, and I got filmed twice. Though I've no idea what for.

Also, the Festival Pavilion was packed when I popped by later that afternoon - The move from Manchester Central to Albert Square seems have been a successful one.

A quick update...

I've been extremely busy of late and am currently in the process of uploading a massive amount of photographs to my flickr account. So while I haven't got the time to do individual blog entries at the moment, you can still have a look at the ANTIFREEZE, Procession and Fused Fashion Show galleries today.

Normal blogging will resume tomorrow. Hopefully.
