Whilst visiting White Sands beach, I started using the pointy end of a golfing umbrella (t'was a wet and mildly windy day) to trace the outline left by the tide on it's way out. The thought occurred that it could be an interesting project - find a nice small sandy beach and - as the tide goes out - trace the waves outline every 15 minutes or so, tracking the seas withdrawal as the beach is uncovered, leaving behind the lines in the sand that'll soon be washed away.
